Just a couple of weeks after being back from vacation in Germany, I was off to Amsterdam, Eindhoven, and Kyiv again. The trip was for office visits and Casual Connect Kyiv 2010.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend PAX (Penny Arcade Expo) this year. The popular Seattle conference sold out quickly, yet again. The coming of PAX 2010 reminded me of our team visit to PAX 2009 – and some of the fun photos we had taken at the Expo! : )

The largest casual games industry conference, Casual Connect Seattle, took place July 20-22, 2010 in my hometown. After so many conferences in Europe and out of state, it is nice to have one in Seattle! It is still a lot of work, but sans the travel time.

This year’s event was a productive mix of business meetings, a excellent speaker sessions and special events. GameHouse held the 2nd Annual Great Game Awards at EMP and the Science Fiction Museum. We got to hang out with the Storm Troopers at the end of the fancy event. : ) (more…)

Retro-blogging fail. I forgot to add my post about Casual Connect Hamburg, Germany. 😦

February 10-12, 2010 was Casual Connect Hamburg. The excellent news (other than great meetings with wonderful partners and learning about new opportunities) was that the new Radisson Blu hotel had finished construction. Last year, the building was completely under scaffolding during my visit. (more…)

GDC San Francisco is one of my favorite game developer conferences to attend for GameHouse/RealGames. Most of my time at conferences is spent in meetings-meetings-meetings with existing partners or meetings about new business, but at GDC SF I have time for meetings as well as conference sessions. : ) (more…)

In January/February, we also did a tour to visit some of our game partners in New York and California. It was, again, a whirlwind of travel. I ended up with strep throat and my partner, Sarita, caught pneumonia. We’re a great duo!

It’s always nice to see the offices where our partners work, since we e-mail almost daily with one another. This was my first time to the new iWin office in San Francisco, to the Reflexive (Amazon) office in Lake Forest, and to Oberon in Manhattan.

Attached is a photo of the amazing view of the Statue of Liberty from the Oberon office. A beautiful view and excellent weather for February in New York City!

After a quick holiday season in Seattle, it was time for the annual International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January. CES is an absolutely enormous show that highlights all of the hottest tech gadgets and trends, and is known for having a huge party scene (as one might imagine happens when large corporations like Microsoft host parties in Vegas).
