As a preliminary project idea, I would like to explore the development of printing in the digital age. What will the impact of future printing technologies be?
As a form of communication rooted in the past, new technologies are taking printing to new levels. Articles such as “Jumping off the page” in Engineering & Technology suggest new applications for 3D printing at home and printing via digital conduit that will cause upheaval to the industry norms.

So do you plan to focus on how these technologies are for use by individuals or are you going to consider the printing industry? It’s a great start and just needs narrowing.
Hi, Christy — are you interested in the digital press — and how inexpensive it is today to order short press runs? Or are you interested in “digital ink”? I think fabrication (3D printers) is a very different process, with roots in mass production and craftsmanship — that is, these machines are not “printers” in the classic sense.
Good idea, but I think you need to break down your topics into one specific area of printing technologies to talk about.
One aspect of this is that as we can produce our own content, we need to printed right? However, in order to print in good high quality and massive we need to use professional printers (very expensive about $35,000) so we have to go to a printer shop. So the current home printers don’t work because they are very limited, not only because the ink (if printing in color) is very expensive and laser color printers are very expensive to buy, but also because of the quality, physical space, etc. Are you are thinking of this as an idea to bring non-market customers, so you make some printing technology that is more accessible ($$) for these non-customers and also low end customers and new market costumers? I think this is a great idea, I can tell you that there will be many that will avoid to go to a printing shop if they could afford it. I hope this helps.
